Choose to Make a Difference

 A few days ago, I listened, as usual, to Dutch Sheets’ Give Him 15 message. It was entitled, You Can Make a Difference. This one was about how we can do more than just vote but also encourage others to do the same. It’s astounding how many believers do not take the effort to vote…or aren’t even registered to do so. 

Specifically, at this moment, the influence of these midterm elections is not negligible; it’s powerful (in both directions). Without the support of Congress, a president is hamstrung from being able to bring crucial change, and even previous biblically-supported changes can be undone.

Dutch shared something we can all do, even if we are bedridden or in a wheelchair. There is a program called “Write Now America,” which provides names, addresses, and an already written letter to send registered voters who have not been participating in elections. You can sign up to send as few as 10 letters or as many as you are willing to send. The organization gives instructions which include one hand-written sentence to be added to their letter. Because we hand-write the envelope, as well, people are more likely to open the envelope and read its contents. 

We provide the paper, ink, envelopes, and stamps. These letters have proven to be an average of 30% effective in getting people to the polls….well worth our efforts.
